Amazon's new Echo Dot Max is a smart speaker built for Alexa+

Amazon has seen the power and potential of Alexa+, its AI-powered smart assistant, and is now launching a raft of devices to support it. Today, at the company's September 2025 devices event, the company unveiled several new Echo devices, with the Dot Max leading the pack.


The hardware has been redesigned to be more effective with Alexa+, harnessing custom silicon and more drivers to offer what Amazon's Daniel Rausch described as the "most performant" speaker at this sort of price ($100).


You'll notice the hardware has been redesigned, with the light ring moved to a new control surface on a Death Star laser-esque cut-out on the top of the sphere.
